This is the sci-fi story that I was originally going to enter into a writing contest, but then I wasn't bothered... so here it is!

Budding Hope
Ten years ago, Maria was left an orphan, her family slaughtered and her home planet burnt to a barren rock. Her and the other survivors barely escaped and were forced to abandon the only home they'd ever known.
