When 16 year old princess Catherine finds herself betrothed to the prince of a nearby kingdom, Gabel, she is upset. But as Catherine starts to learn more about him, she discovers that there is more to Gabel beneath the surface than she thought. And slowly, she starts to think that the marriage wasn't such a bad idea after all. However, it doesn't take long for her to realize that all the hand holding and hugs from Gabel were all just for show - to preserve the alliance between their kingdoms - and that he didn't feel the same way. Heartbroken, Catherine seeks Adstarius, a knight orphaned since birth, for help to win Gabel's heart. He agrees, and Catherine's journey begins, where she finds herself struggling to balance honor against love, making sacrifices she never thought she'd make.
