Strange things are happening to 17-year-old Scarlett Owens. It started late at night on the streets of New Orleans, when a crazy-looking old man with crimson eyes and matted hair bit her and shoved his blood down her throat.

She acquired a deep hatred for garlic, which she used to love, she could hear things from almost two miles away, her green eyes started to turn a strange silver, her skin was a shade paler than it should be, and her throat felt uncomfortably cold, but nothing would warm it.
