Luke Matthews has always led a troubled life; he was abandoned by his parents as a baby and has never been able to settle into the various orphanages and foster homes he's been sent to over the years. Now aged 16, he's beginning to fit into an ordinary life for the first time.
All of that changes when Luke is attacked by a vampire, only surviving thanks to two mysterious strangers with extraordinary powers who come to his rescue. Taken to Underworld, a secret city of mages hidden deep below London, Luke discovers he possesses light magic - a power unseen for millennia. It soon becomes clear that there are people who want to take advantage of Luke's powers, and it's not just him in danger. With the return of light magic, the fate of the whole world hangs in the balance...

Kind of stalled with this, but I haven't abandoned it. I may end up doing a partial/total rewrite over the summer and try to actually finish it, if I do then I'll probably start posting the rewrite as a separate book. He is worried it will make his greatest fear come true. He is terrified he is on the path to becoming evil like his parents. Then, one day at school he gets an invitation from Cassiopeia's School for the Gifted. Sure he's heard of it, but only in rumors. The school is just for magical creatures to learn more about themselves and their history. It was made over three hundred years ago and still run by a fairy named Cassiopea and her daughter Cassia. Arion is excited to go because his parents refuse to teach him anything about other magical creatures other than dark magic. They believe it is irrelevant for him to know because they think he will take over the world one day. And why should a leader know anything about his subjects? Arion convinces his parents that if he goes to the school he can do recon on the other magical people so he can learn about them and make it easier for him to take over. With no friends, no siblings, and a very negative outlook on life, he heads to Cassiopeia's School for the Gifted.
