Witch of Shadow is the story of eighteen-year-old Prudence Bennett, a feisty, controversial witch, whose burning desire to converge with her own is threatened by her barbaric grandmother's obsession for a modern day witch hunt.
The historic town of Southpaw has long accepted its past of witchery, but the fact that Prue's ancestor was executed for murder leads her to fear that she might one day surrender to the sinister voice inside her head, thus echoing past mistakes. Her stubborn focus leaves little room in her affections for the dangerously alluring Salem, and his conceited girlfriend Mel, both members of her new coven.
Determined to clear her name, Prue merges with the witches-descendants of the original Southpaw clan-to expel rumours of black magic and locate missing practitioners. But just as Prue succeeds with her plan, their rashness results in exposure, and a brawl breaks out at the bar where they secretly practise magic. Suddenly Prue is exiled and forced to fight alone.
