Olivia Kaye (Olive) is a freshly emancipated sixteen-year-old girl who has had a really hard life. She has two male best friends, her own age, and two female best friends, in their twenties. She lives on her own, in an office turned apartment, for the first time in her life. She knows that it is going to be difficult to take care of herself. To make matters worse, it was only a matter of time before the past, that she didn't even know about, caught up with her. She has no idea the horrors in store for her when she loses her protective necklace. Why is this happening to her? What is she supposed to do, no one ever warned or trained her? Will she find refuge in the man that abandoned her? Can she trust any of her friends? Will anyone be able to help her, or will she die just like her mother?
