One cannot exist without the other. Similarly, people have especially strong chemistry with others. This chemistry is usually shared with one's soulmate.
In this AU, turning sixteen means that you will receive your own super power. Your super power is your link to your soulmate. Your soulmate's power will be the opposite of your own.
