I gasped as I felt the cold metal touch the back of my aching head. I was on my knees in front of the most terrifying man alive, The Red Leader. His two buddies, Paul and Patryk were standing next to me to make sure I didn't try anything, Patryk, who I thought I could trust, was holding the gun his finger already steady on the trigger.

"P-please..." I whimpered out, tired of being hit, tired of feeling like I was going to die at any given moment, which was in literal terms as of now. "I-I don't know anything. They never told me stuff I just worked for them to protect my family. You have to understand that-" I stopped talking as he crouched down to my level, a smirk on his face as his silver eyes stared into my watery ones.

I looked down, silence overcoming me as I couldn't bring myself to make any more eye contact with the man before me.

"P-please...." I whispered out again. He stood up again with a short sigh, turning to walk out of the dark stone room.

"Kill her, she's not giving me what I need."

It's been 3 years since Tord was last seen in the Kingdom called Stardies. No one has reported anything about him after he got exiled. But little do they know that the man with caramel horns still craves for blood. He didn't get his revenge. Yet in the shadows he has built his own empire, his own army and his own business. When The King of Stardies, Edd, banned the hunting culture that comes to dragons, some of the civilians were not happy with the solution. Weapons that are made of dragons are way more powerful than normal ones. That's why the black market has increased its popularity among the rebellious, criminals, soldiers and other vague people. But one day everything went wrong. Dragons were gone. The forest that before was full of different types of dragons was now just a big tree labyrinth. Not a scale in sight. However, there was one exception. The Midnight Pearl. But why is that? Where did other dragons go? Where did the Midnight Pearl go and where did it come from? What is it? That's what Tord and his two most trusted guards are going to figure out. --------- !TRIGGER WARNINGS! : Gore, inappropriate language, manipulation, toxic relationships, Abuse, gaslighting and angst. Jasper stiffens in his seat as I press the metal of the blade against his back. "Don't say a word. Come with me, right now." Of course, he doesn't listen. I had hoped a dagger to the kidney would be incentive enough, but even the threat of death doesn't graze a Devereaux ego. He turns toward me to argue, facing away from the goon that's been eyeing him across the bar. I doubt he even noticed. The man whispers something to his sketchy friend, pointing at Jasper. No time for discussion. I grab his arm and press the tip of the knife harder, just barely breaking the skin. He winces, realizing I mean business, and gets up. The idiot prince seems to finally get the memo, running alongside me until we're a safe distance away. "What the hell was that about?" his ragged breaths take the sting out of his words. I've never seen him like this before. Cheeks red, chest heaving, hunched over himself on the stump of a tree. For once, he looks like an authentic person. Of course, this is merely an illusion. Jasper Devereaux is an arrogant, entitled dirtbag, nothing more. I can't believe I just jeopardized my favorite trade spot for him. He demands to know why I pulled a knife on him instead of just telling him he was in danger. I explain to him that the reason for the dagger was glaringly obvious if you consider the way he acted when I did use it. If he was willing to argue with a blade against his skin, there is no way he'd have left that place in good hands if I hadn't forced him to. I can't help but laugh at the audacity of him to be angry with me for how I chose to save his life. "You really haven't changed." His head snaps up at this, and I see his eyes searching my face. Of course he doesn't recognize me. For me, it was super traumatic. For him, it was just another day. "What are you going on about?" "This isn't the kingdom, Jasper, these peasants aren't at your mercy." I see the blood drain from his face, and recognition clicks in his eyes.

[!!CW!! abuse of drugs and alcohol, graphic depiction of violence and gore] "'Please,' he breathed shakily. I looked into his other hand and he was holding his pistol. One, identical to mine only that it was engraved with his signature. I shook my head frantically, more sounds exiting my mouth. 'No... no. No!' I whined as he held out the gun with all his strength. I couldn't. I wouldn't! 'Please, don't make me do this,' I continued whining, refusing to take the pistol from his hand. 'Please,' he just breathed again and I finally took the heavy metal into the hand that wasn't holding onto his other. It was already loaded. I heard the mechanisms click as I placed the barrel a few inches away from the space between his eyes. He closed his eyes, squeezing my hand tighter which was getting very sweaty. 'At least I'll say hi to mom and dad,' he laughed, spitting blood in the process. Before I could break down completely, I pulled the trigger, the deafening shot making my ears ring. I closed my eyes and looked away, only feeling his hand twitch open for a second and then falling onto his lifeless stomach. I gave out a painful moan. 'I love you, my treasure...'" There are worse things than death. ___ "What is wrong with you?" I seethed. She had my back against the wall, pinning me down so I couldn't move. She was much stronger than me, even when I used my strength to get out of her embrace. I held her gaze and I knew that she was gone. There wasn't an ounce of goodness left in her body. She laughed at my question. Of course, I knew what was wrong with her. But I have to find a way to get her back. "What is wrong with me? Ha, nothing sweetheart." she told me with a smile on her face. "I'm just having a little fun." "Yeah, and fun for you is killing innocents," I growled. "Oh, I hate to say this to you but they aren't all innocent." I finally broke free of her and I dropped her to the floor. I held her down with both arms while I was on top of her. All she did was give me a smile. An eerie smile that made a shiver run down my spine. "I should kill you for what you've done," I whispered. "I should make you pay." "Oh, but Sebastian, you won't," she said. "You know why? Because at the end of the day I'm still me, and you will never hurt me, will you?" I hated that she was right. I couldn't kill her. My mind told me that it would be the best to do it but my heart told me otherwise. I mentally cursed at myself for letting this happen to her. "Elora, I know you're still in there." I said. She was still on the ground, but she was not resisting which seemed odd. "She died a long time ago," she said finally. "Alongside her love for you." ___ Book Two in the "From Death to Life" Trilogy #13 in Bloodlust
