GUNNER SAMSON was dead. 

The small town of Mallory Creek, Michigan is shocked when their beloved Gunner Samson is found dead in a freezing river. Alexander Barrington, however, feels most of the shock -- his childhood best friend was gone. 

As Alex discovers a series of letters and prose written by Gunner, he starts to realizes that Gunner Samson was not who Alex thought he was. As he goes on the hunt to figure out why he died, he soon finds out that Gunner wasn't the only one being targeted that night; four of his classmates were too, including him. 

In order to keep them safe and to solve the truth about his best friend, Alex devises all five of them to work on a film about Gunner's life. Yet, as they venture through with this journey, Alex commences to realize that the killer was hiding underneath their noses along -- and the person that it is will be the greatest shock that he will ever encounter.
