He killed for his food, but he also simply liked the fight that everyone put up before they died. It was fun, but when he entered Forks, something was different. She and Laurent were both curious, but Victoria quickly became jealous, especially once they figured out where the scent was coming from. The scent was a human, and the human was James's mate.
