Hello!

If you are looking at this, I imagine that you have already read "Lay Low". If you haven't, what are you waiting for?!

Jokes aside, this is a collection of chapters that I left out of my Wattpad version of the book as I felt that the story covered Tony's cruelty quite well and that these scenes were unnecessary.

Seeing as I have written them, (and that the Bad News One Shots were so well received), I have decided to post them up.

Be warned they are pretty much all scenes depicting the cruelty of Tony and Eva. For help with the timeline: all scenes are set in the nine months before Max comes back into his life.

Comment and let me know what you think.

Trigger warning: physical abuse

For 17-year-old high school senior Evan Brooks, life could be better. He's a social outcast at school, stuck in a rural Alabama small town he never wanted to move to, and he's got a secret he's desperately trying to keep: he's gay. When he embarks on a weekend vacation to the Florida panhandle with his hypermasculine brother, homophobic stepdad, and aloof mother, none of them can anticipate how much a simple 3-day trip will change their lives forever... **2025 Update: Hi! This was my very first attempt at crafting an entire story from scratch all the way back in 2020, and I'd like to think my writing has since improved. I've started working on a big rewrite project, so stay tuned for a newly enhanced story! Please visit the last chapter (2025 Rewrite Info/Updates) for more details. In the meantime, the original story will remain here in full - just know that I know some parts of it are cringe lol. I hope you still enjoy it though! :) Some details have changed between this story and Road to Rockdale in anticipation of the rewrite, so please excuse some inconsistencies if you're coming from that story. I promise everything will line up eventually! CONTENT WARNING/TRIGGERS: Please note that this story contains very strong language at times and some mature themes. Some characters face emotional abuse. There is also a small amount of physical abuse, but it is mostly implied apart from one scene which is not extremely graphic. Some characters are homophobic, and a slur is used a handful of times.
Opposites Could Attract (Ongoing) by Senseiser
18 parts Ongoing Mature
Vanessa arrives at her new school with hope in her heart. She's determined to smile, to make friends, and to finally escape the loneliness that haunted her at her last home. But almost immediately, she's branded "weird." The kids mock her smiles, twist her kindness into something laughable, and, before long, the bullying escalates into something darker. Every single day, Vanessa is cornered, beaten, and reminded she doesn't belong. One hundred days of abuse. One hundred days of silence. One hundred days of pain. No one helps her. No one even tries. Except Max. Max is the boy no one dares to approach-gloomy, detached, and frightening when provoked. Everyone knows he wants to be left alone. He sleeps through class, kicks over tables when bothered, and keeps everyone at arm's length with his sharp tongue. But Vanessa sees something different. On her very first day, when other kids mock her, he tells them to shut up-even though he swears he doesn't care. When she thanks him, he grabs her shirt, growls at her to leave him alone, and warns her he isn't anyone's friend. But when she lays her head next to his anyway, smiling through the fear, Max doesn't push her away. Then comes the day her bullies go too far. A knife. A cornered victim. Vanessa, ready to give up, finally whispers to herself that no one cares. That she's truly alone. But she isn't. Max appears. In front of everyone, he catches the blade meant for her, throws off his shirt to reveal a body scarred by pain far beyond schoolyard fights, and with ruthless efficiency, he destroys her tormentors. They scatter, terrified. And for the first time, Vanessa sees the truth: beneath his gloom, Max does care. He tells her plainly, "You watered the flowers every day so they didn't die. I want to be that water to you, the flower." From that moment, their bond is sealed. But their world isn't kind.
Amid the Embers by Lucid_Dreams29
16 parts Ongoing Mature
Amid the Embers may look like your typical post-apocalyptic story. It's not. Yes, it starts with the Noxborne Virus. Yes, the world falls apart, fast. But this isn't about scavenging for canned beans or dodging zombies in alleyways. This is about what comes after, the slow, intimate rot of systems, memories, and mercy. It begins with Lily, a CNA in a Chicago hospital, witnessing the final moments of Patient Zero. From there, the story fractures into multiple points of view: survivors, manipulators, believers, and the broken children caught in between. A rising cult twists faith into control. Trauma rewrites love, loyalty, and identity. Each chapter ends with a bonus scene, hidden thoughts and memories, alternate angles, haunted echoes that refuse to stay buried. This trilogy blends psychological horror with emotional realism. Every laugh hides a wound. Every wound starts a story. Amid the Embers is not about saving the world. It's about surviving the memory of it and what it turns you into. ─────────────── **⚠️ Trigger Warning: ⚠️ ** This book contains graphic depictions of: -Child abuse (emotional, physical, and implied sexual exploitation) -Physical torture -Sexual assault -Mentions of child brides - Domestic violence and coercive control -Religious extremism and cult-like behavior -Graphic psychological horror -Substance abuse -Miscarriages -Homophobia and internalized shame -Death and grief -Mentions of suicidal ideation (non-graphic) -Gaslighting and manipulation Reader discretion is strongly advised. ─────────────────
