she exhaled slowly, observing how the warm vapor she expelled billowed out and disappeared into the crisp winter night. he watched her thoughtfully with bleary eyes as she contained her thoughts. he noted how the fluorescent lighting of the street lamp enhanced the rosiness of her features as the frosty breeze nipped at her nose.

"like i'm watching myself prepare to free fall from the empire state building and i can't do anything to stop it" she finally replied torpidly.
