Sophomore, Autumn Fleetwood comes from a low-income family.  Though not wealthy, her parents try to provide for her and her little brother as best as they can.  However, when life gets too hard, Autumn retreats in her mind to her daydream world.   The daydreams become frequent the more hardships that she faces.  

Maddox Zachary aka Mad Zach is a prankster.   His pranks have made him popular in the school social circle.  However, Maddox has a secret.  A prank went tragically wrong.  One person knows the truth and blackmails Maddox to invite Autumn to the school dance as part of their revenge plot for her rejecting his advances.  

Having seen the damage and humiliation that his pranks caused, Autumn turns him down.  

When an unexpected crisis occurs,  Maddox helps Autumn in an surprising way. 

Thinking she misjudged him, she accepts his invitation on one condition.  No more pranks.  They bond.  Only she learns, per the school gossip, that Maddox has every intention of pranking her.  

When she learns of Maddox's secret, she concocts a plan to turn the tables on him.
