In dieser Umgebung war das Leben hart, besonders wenn man von Anfang an nichts hatte. Das erlebten auch Kay und sein Bruder Silas aus nächster Nähe, die schon einige Jahre allein in diesem armen Viertel zurecht kommen mussten. Kylie ist eine junge, selbstbewusste Frau, die bald ihr Studium in der Tasche haben wird. Aber davor heißt es ständig lernen. Wenn sie ein guten Studienabschluss hinzaubert, hätte sie schon eine Arbeitsstelle, die sie sehr interessiert. Es war zwar schon acht Jahre her aber die leichten Depressionen ließen es nicht besser werden. Noch dazu dass ihr Vater überhaupt nicht damit klar kam und ein Alkoholproblem hat, weswegen er sein Job verlor. Viele sagten ihr Leben sei hart doch es gab viele, die ein schlimmeres hatten und damit musste Kylie zurecht kommen. Doch sie ahnt nicht, dass sich ihr Leben bald verändern würde.
