In this new not-quite-reality she meets a mysterious man who goes by 'J' who grudgingly takes her under his wing. She works with him in his garage, in a seemingly mundane lifestyle. However, soon enough, more weird things start cropping up, and Fern wonders if this alternate reality is really such a paradise.
