The Night Parade

Hana Steele only has one wish for her last summer before her freshman year of college; she wants to know exactly who she is. Half-Japanese on her mother's side, but with little knowledge of her maternal family or her culture, Hana yearns to know everything her father refuses to tell her. On the eve of her eighteen birthday, Hana receives a letter from the grandfather she has never met, and a pearl on a golden chain, a gift from a mother she has never known.
Within 24 hours of receiving both, Hana is drawn into the dark underbelly of her father's myths and folktales. Her father is kidnapped, and she is attacked in her NY apartment by monstrous yokai known as Snake-Heads. When Hana is rescued by a pair of kitsune; shape-shifting fox demons, with sharp teeth and sharper claws, she realizes they have more in common than meets the eye. The kitsune are her family, and she is heir to the clan. Hana Steele has yokai blood in her veins, but that alone will not protect her from the darker forces on the horizon.
A fallen god is rising again in the shadows of Japan. His aim is to plunge the world into darkness with his Night Parade; a force of 1,001 enslaved yokai, aided by the monsters of the Underworld.
When Hana is called on by the gods to gather the treasures of Japan to defeat Osure, she will need to rely on her friends. There is Edo, a dark kitsune assigned as her guard and shunned by his own clan for cowardice, his cousin Masato, a bookish healer, and Isao, a raven-demon with the face of an angel and the blood of a mountain prince.
From the mountains of Japan to the depths of the Japanese Underworld, Hana Steele will need every friend she can find and every ounce of power she can call on from her yokai blood. Because in the end, at the grave of a god, Hana Steele will fight to save her friends, her family, and the world.
