What if Lance actually wasn't a paladin?
What if Lance wasn't even human, but an Altean?
What if Lance was trained to be a druid and was so successful, that he was the second highest druid in the Galran empire?
And what if a certain prince took a liking to this peculiar druid and decided to claim him as one of his generals?

The Dark Crystal
In a world, a long, long time ago, lived a crystal. The lands flourished and bloomed until the crystal cracked, the shard lost to time. There came two races with the crystal cracked, the Skeksis and the Mystics. With both races dying, only one could save them. His name was Keith, the last known living Gelfling. He was the chosen one. And he has no clue. NOTE: This takes place in the Dark Crystal universe but still has my own twists to it. I'm basing this story solely off the movie and my own imagination. A few tidbits of knowledge that would make this story make a lil more since are: -This one-shot is only based off the movie, not the comics nor the upcoming (as of 2019) show. -All of the species named here (Gelfling, Skeksis, Mystics, Podlings) are all more humanoid than what is canon in the Dark Crystal movie but you can still image them as you wish. -The Skeksis are the Galra. (The Mystics AREN'T the Alteans though.) Image the Skeksis as more Galra-like or more Skeksis-like, do what fits your imagination. Earth is saved from the Galra, and the Paladins of Voltron are the heroes of the Galaxy Garrison, well all except for Keith. He'd been kicked out before the war, and they didn't want him back. He's alone again. Lance, Pidge, and Hunk are employed by the Garrison, Shiro leads missions off world, Allura and Coran are establishing a new world for the Alteans who'd survived, and the Blade don't need him. Keith works in a coffee shop and gets by the best he can, on the little money he earns. This story is loosely based on the paladins of Voltron. I have not watched all the seasons and have changed the backstory of some characters. I do not own any of the characters in this story, and I do not own any of the artwork. There is smut, swearing, talk of rape, and self-harm in the story. I will not be putting disclaimers at the beginning of the chapters, so if you don't want to read it, move on to another story. Kit: A young Alien child who has yet to reach the age of maturity and requires love and attention to grow and remain healthy. If they do not receive the things they require they can grow to be small, disabled, or even die. ~ The leaders of Altea and Dibazzal came to a consensus hundreds of thousands of years ago that determined the age of maturity for their children to be 100 years old or 30 years in a human based time line. ~ Near the beginning of the large, intergalactical war, a decision was made. Any child shall not participate in the war, be harmed, or mistreated until they reach the age of maturity. The cause of breaking the law is death or exile. Keith always thought he was a human. He had no reason to think otherwise. His father, a fireman who died when he was 8, was the only parent he had. He thought he was human even through the pull of the blue lion, the trip through space, and even when he joined a small group called "The Paladins of Voltron." However, when he met his first Altean, things started to unravel. Unwanted cravings for love and attention surfaced with no apparent cause. It was pulling and tugging but always distracting, making jt hard to focus on his duties to save the universe. They weren't something he ever needed on earth, so why now? The Altean-Galra teen now needs to find where he belongs in the world, or rather space, with new information and growing needs. After the war ended and peace was brought to all the universe. It had been years since the end of a war filled past and now it was time for everyone to finally move on all except for one paladin who still clung to his past. Lance had been spreading the legacy Allura left behind when she passed and never had a day passed where he didn't miss her, but a dream reveals he needs to move on and live his life. Unsure of what to do he remembers when a certain moody mullet head confessed his love the same night he confessed his love for Allura. Determined to see whether those sparks still glimmered for him he decides to speak with Keith about a past left untouched. When the anniversary of Allura's passing came around he decided that was the best time to reconnect but who would've thought that the stars refused to align when Keith was found injured and unconscious with a beautiful stranger by his side. Will Lance ever find out if Keith still fancies him like before? Why was Keith injured and who is this stranger who won't leave his side? (I know this fandom is long gone but I rewatched Voltron several weeks ago before they removed it off Netflix. I forgot how much I loved it and how we were deprived of Keith and Lance ever being together so I decided to create this story.
