Indeed, what’s not to like about her life in Virginia? She’s working as an Internet radio d.j. (never mind that her show is heard only by a few Peace Corps volunteers in Ghana) and taking off six weeks a year to visit her boyfriend in Australia, whom she met while filming a Ken Burns Civil War documentary. Her apartment is cute and cheap, her colleagues genial.

But good things are never meant to last. When a case of mistaken identity and the ensuing media backlash threaten her livelihood, she realizes she must make her decision – and draws her inspiration from an unexpected source.
