Seventeen-year-old chronically ill Emma has traded dreams of flying into space for, "Support Therapy," aka, "The Dying Kids Group," and Student Council events for a nasal cannula. Sweet but a little bitter, Emma faces COPD and PMD head-on, even as her health begins to decline. After all, part of dying is breathing in every moment, and she won't sit around moping when free wheelchair rides and late-night pizza runs with best friends are out there for the taking.
Taking care of herself may buy her more time, but what's the point of time if you're not making the most of it?
Cadence is her constant. Even when everything seems to be crashing down around her, Emma knows she can count on the pure love of best friends.
In this novel in verse, WriteTheBright explores the world of being, "the sick girl," but also the girl who loves science and her mom. It is a reminder that we are all more than our struggles.

There are several things Lynn doesn't quite get about the world she lives in, which makes it harder for her to figure herself out. She is not your average teenager. She's young, intelligent, though something about her is off by now. Everyone is quick to misjudge and point fingers, everything and everyone is so corrupted that she's afraid she'll lose herself among a bunch of wandering, empty souls. But Lynn knows deep in her heart that place really exists, and she'll do anything to find it, with the help of some new found friends.
