"I can't even step foot outside those walls, so how am I supposed to be queen?"

The Aenonians were a secretive race that evolved from the ancient Atlantians after they had their whole race decimated except for the surviving few that reproduced with the mer-people. For hundreds of years they kept themselves away from the prying eyes of the humans who continue to believe in the myth of the Aenonians.
Asa Shin has always been told to look ahead at her rightful throne, but she only looks ahead past those gates they kept her trapped for so long. At only twelve years old Asa is first in line to take her mother, Queen Amaya Shin's crown and rule the race she was born into.
Problem is Asa doesn't care to be queen and only wishes to explore the outside world with her long time friends. Can Asa fulfill her wish of exploring the outside and avoid becoming queen?

From A Kingdom's Shadow

12 parts Ongoing Mature

Apondra had never really understood why she had to keep herself hidden from the world. The kind butcher who took her in as a child always answered the same, because of the war. The war between two neighbouring kingdoms to the west had been resolved almost a decade ago, so what was the worry if she showed her wings in public? Or stopped dressing elf-like to charade around town in? She yearned for freedom, even just to go out and make friends her age. Apondra wanted to see the world. Or at least travel the kingdoms of Galoahar. She had never even been to the capital city of the lands she grew up in with the butcher elf, Barri. But the goddess Mother and Father god, whom all worshipped in their own ways, had their own plans for her to realize. And it was finally time for their plan to be put in motion. But would she be ready for what her freedom would cost?
