Kisah seorang Ayah berketurunan bugis daripada perkampungan Sinjay di Indonesia. Berlatar belakangkan sejarah keluarga yang perit. Dijaga waktu kecilnya oleh ibu tiri dan ayah kandung. Pengalaman dengan ibu tirinya sangat kelam setelah ibu kandungnya bercerai kasih dan membawa diri bersama seorang adik lelakinya. Pengembaraan mencari jiwanya dengan berhijrah iaitu ke negeri seberang, di Tanah Borneo ketika itu.
Usai di Tanah Borneo terjumpa dengan adik kandung di pelabuhan. Mula mencari sesuap rezeki dengan bekerja sebagai buruh sehingga berkahwin dengan wanita tempatan. Mula berkeluarga, cabarannya sebagai pekerja tanpa dokumen semakin mencabar dengan berdepan dengan dugaan daripada penguasa dan pemiutang ditambah lagi kelanjutan pembelajaran anak perempuannya serta masalah disiplin anak lelakinya di sekolah menengah. Berita buruk akan kematian ayahnya di kampung halaman disebabkan perebutan sejengkal tanah oleh saudara tirinya. Selesai urusan pengebumian, segala warisan diserahkan tanggungjawab, sementara menunggu kata putus dia dan adiknya. Sekembali dari kampung halaman, sepanjang 3 bulan berturut-turut menghidapi penyakit misteri. Meninggal dunia.
