The shy, quiet, Helena Carter just recently moved all the way from London to New York. She's looking for a fresh start and she knew she couldn't get that if she was anywhere near her old family and friends.
But 'quiet' is a complete understatement. In fact, she doesn't talk at all, and hasn't spoken a single word in the last 4 years.
Her new neighbors, the Way brothers and their newly formed band, befriend her immediately, despite her hesitation to social situations. The quirky, cigarette smoking, charismatic front man of the band, Gerard Way, takes a special liking to her. She's an enigma to him. And he desperately wants to know the reason behind her silence.
