This is yet another sequel to my completed trilogy of fanfictions
1) Poison
2) Perception
3) Stolen Time

It's necessary to have read those first for Back to Better to make sense :)

So please have a look at the prequels, links in my profile...

"It had always seemed so simple.

Power and immortality - that had been all that mattered. That had been all he had needed to feel whole.

Or so he had fooled himself into believing.

He knew he had been lying to himself.

There had been something more important, something more valuable, something invaluable actually.

Something he had only learned to appreciate when he had lost it.

He had to get it back, and that was all that mattered."

DISCLAIMERS (Update 11/27/2025 - Yes, I'm still alive and I will be dropping chapters soon): ART AND THUMBNAIL RIGHTS: ANY and ALL art that I USE if not mine, will be stated to be such. ANY and ALL art that I MAKE and use, CANNOT be re-uploaded without crediting me, AND IT CANNOT be re-uploaded with modifications. The act of reuploading ANY story with MY art without credit or with modification will be seen as theft, and if I see it, a DMCA complaint will be sent out. STORY AND CURRENT FORMAT: THIS STORY IS BEING RE-WRITTEN AND ADDED TO STARTING 10/9/25; This fanfiction is the first I have taken seriously, and the first I will complete. In all fanfictions I seek to create, I will attempt to capture canon-like personalities of the characters from the fandom I choose to write on. HOWEVER, I will ABSOLUTELY be putting twists on things, adding new original characters, creating new job positions if applicable, and giving said new original characters the aforementioned job roles if they fit it. You are ALLOWED to add new chapters to this story, and you're allowed to republish this story, ONLY if you credit me and ONLY if you're adding new chapters and not re-writing my entire work. ---- BRIEF DETAILS: A year after Harry Potter defeats Voldemort and the war has ended, he is left tired, lost, and constantly angry. In a chase for an escaped Death Eater, he is hit by a particularly nasty curse; It just so happens that this curse was explosive enough to hit Ron and Hermione too. All three wake up in limbo after death scares the hell out of the Death Eater and his allies, have their realities shattered by certain revelations, and are given a chance to go back in time to save a Tom Riddle who needs some saving. ---- Anytime I publish a chapter, expect there to be more chapters that come along with it. I never just publish one chapter or just one part and leave it at that, that would be WAYYY too lazy.

Perception A Tom Marvolo Riddle Fanfiction completed

22 parts Complete

He had achieved almost everything he had wanted. He had power and he was immortal. And yet, there were a few things he hadn't achieved. He had not been able to get rid of his fear of defeat. And he had not been able to forget what had happened that fateful night fifteen years ago. If you asked him whether he has rued what happened that night, he would tell you that there's no room for repentance or contrition where there's not even a conscience. Yet he would tell you that although he felt no remorse that did not mean he did not regret. Sometimes you only know what you've had when you lose it. Sometimes it needs loss to inspire perception. Sometimes you need a second chance. And sometimes you get it. ********** This is the sequel to my story "Poison", and I guess it's necessary to have read "Poison" for "Perception" to make sense, so please feel invited to read "Poison" first if you haven't done so yet ;-)
