He seemed to notice that my effort had failed because he raised an eyebrow, his head tilting to the side as he appraised me. "You're the head of marketing for FMCG?" he finally asked, his rich voice giving me a picture of a high bank balance.
Some people just have the voice that feels like a fat cheque. He has that voice in a low, deep register.
"Yes," I replied, trying to not get distracted by his intimidating presence.
"What are you; 12?" he asked, in a quietly scoffing tone.
