Soundwave has been trapped in the Soundzone ever since those awful human children did this to him. He watched as Cybertron was rebuilt, he saw how Bumblebee and his team took down the decepticon high council.
    Yet, he himself has no purpose, Megatron announced the decepticon cause to be dead. So Soundwave followed his lordship's last order and has remained in the Shadowzone on Cybertron. Soundwave was to live the rest of his life like this, a ghost who watches as history flies by....

In this story Soundwave never remained on Earth, he instead stayed on Cybertron as it was rebuilt, so he never escaped from the Shadowzone with Bumblebee's team. Keep that in mind you read~
