Keith was never a boy to begin with.
But growing up and having to live up to others expectations as a female was tiring, so, right after his fathers death, right before entering middle school in a new area, he became who he is now.
When Pidge first revealed herself as a girl and everyone accepted her, Keith wondered if he also could. Maybe even Lance would show Keith some form of leniancy.
But Keith is too scared.
Terrified.
