It's been centuries since the Great War ended. Yet, the divine fallout from the death of godlike entities continues to plague the World of Taldania. Aftergods, or the Shadows of the Fallen Gods, were too powerful to be completely banished. Bereft of the guiding conscience possessed by their former selves, these entities rampage across the lands, causing wanton destruction.

Only the self-proclaimed God Hunters, an independent organisation of skilled fighters, magicians and inventors, claim to be able to put an end to this threat. Yet, the people do not believe them, seeing them as nothing more than greedy liars who possess only pretty words and useless weapons.

Khalfinge Meir, heir to the Blade of Fire, is utterly convinced that he will be the one to lay low these creatures. But amidst the chaos and destruction, the politicking of the ruling classes, and the hostility of the Trackers' Guild, he finds that he might lose his way before his goal is ever achieved...

Rise of Fire: Dragons Reborn [COMPLETED] by RosaleeRain
49 parts Complete Mature
The world had long since forgotten the age of dragons, those creatures that had once ruled the skies as gods had long since disappeared after the conclusion of the Great Demon Wars. Dragons became nothing more than a fading legend, a story to tell children at bedtime. But the gods could not let the dragons die, for they were the last defense against the demon armies and the dark god Vekkar. Talia had been born and raised in a world of darkness acting as an agent of Hephatus, goddess of assassins and death. She knew only a life of killing, sometimes for justice, sometimes for honor, always for money. Her morals were opaque at best. But when she's deployed to the city of Arboros she finds herself thrust into a world of political games, opposing powers, and constant threat. Nowhere was safe even for her. Her goals became muddied, and then lost altogether when she meets the Dwarven Prince. Bromyr had spent the last five years of his life chasing ghosts, desperate to find the lost dragon eggs. His people thought him crazy, his father stripped him of his titles, but he never gave up. Eventually his effort bore fruit and he hastily made way to return to his homeland only to get caught up in the city of Arboros. It was there that he met an intriguing half-giant, a woman who ignited a fire everywhere she went. In the end she was the one who inadvertently brought about the new age of dragons. What could go wrong when an ill tempered assassin becomes the first dragon rider of a new age? ***Cover made by annie1loves1you***

A Fifth Daughter [Book 1: The Dragon Rider] by JJHays
30 parts Complete
A MODERN MEDIEVAL FANTASY #3 in Fantasy |Book 1 of the Fifth Daughter Trilogy| When darkness arises and the world of Fantasy is in danger of being destroyed, the Dragon Riders are the first to show up. Fire and fang, sword and shaft, meet the enemy head on and the wars don't end until the enemy is disbanded. It's not a pretty business, but it must be done to secure the lives of every creature within Fantasy. There are two Rider schools - over thousands of Riders and dragons - and Smoke Green is one of them, no matter how much she dislikes the idea and the heights. Her fate has been chosen, even if she doesn't want it. With a vacant father, a mother who has too many secrets, four older sisters, an older brother, and a three minute older, annoying twin brother, Smoke isn't expected to be much more than a hometown girl of Folklore; who will get a boring desk job and never leave home. But then the Sage of the Burrows proclaims her a Dragon Rider and a Fifth Daughter and Smoke's life changes stories - literally. Moving from Folklore to Legend, Smoke is taught that fears can be conquered and villains do have a hunger for power. She also learns she might just have the power this villain is after. She makes friends: Something she didn't know she could do, she finds her dragon: Someone she didn't know even existed, and she learns her past: Something she didn't know was so complicated. But when rebellions begin to break out across the globe; the world of Fantasy is once again put in danger and the Dragon Riders might not be able to save their home this time around. Especially, when the enemy is from one of their own royal families; once thought incinerated, and his accomplice might just be Smoke's long thought dead father. In this first book of the Fifth Daughter Trilogy, J.J. wants you to forget everything you think you know of mythology and open your mind to a new kind of fantasy. 48 parts Complete
In the frozen wilderness beyond the village walls, survival isn't guaranteed-it's earned. Grey, a sharp-eyed young hunter gifted with the ability to see ethereal threads of light connecting all living things, walks a thin line between life and death with every step into the snowbound forests. His gift is his greatest tool-and his deepest secret. When the Grand Hunt leads Grey and his squad to a chilling encounter with a monstrous creature and a group of robed strangers led by a sinister old man, the world he thought he knew begins to crack. Ancient powers stir beneath the frost, and the old man's magic reveals a truth far more terrifying than the dangers of the frozen woods. As the village reels from loss, Grey finds himself facing impossible choices. His gift, once a quiet advantage, now feels like a curse drawing him deeper into a conflict he doesn't understand. Shadows whisper of forgotten paths-ancient roads walked by those who sought strength not just to survive, but to transcend. Paths where power can be cultivated, honed, and wielded by those willing to sacrifice everything. But power always comes at a cost. Blood stains the frost, alliances are tested, and every step deeper into the unknown pulls Grey closer to a path he may not be ready to tread-a path where strength isn't just survival, but transformation. And in the depths of the wilderness, where cold winds carry secrets and danger lurks with every shadow, Grey must decide if he's willing to pay the price for what lies beyond.

A MODERN MEDIEVAL FANTASY #31 in Fantasy |Book 2 of the Fifth Daughter Trilogy| Davenport has returned to take over Fantasy and the Riders are dispatched under the command; 'kill or be killed.' It's a fight to the death war; no surrendering and no prisoners. The flags of Legend and Lore have joined, the Demons are rallied, and Smoke is on a mission. Reports have arrived from all over Fantasy. Vampires are being defanged and Fairy Dust collect-ed. But there are no real leads. No definite answer as to who is killing these creatures and no one knows where all the stolen objects are being taken or what they are used for. Taking the well-known name of an assassin and thief; Sinder Zane, Smoke goes undercover to find out the truth behind all the bad stuff going on in the background of the real battle. What she finds, though, could change everything. When Cai is taken, Smoke will do anything and everything to get him back, even betray her own knowledge of what is right. She's not a leader. She's not a queen. She's just a girl wanting a normal life and everyone who underestimates that could find themselves at the sharp point of her sword. Starting in Fairy Tale, kidnapped to Graceland, Smoke travels to Urban, and then to the heart of Red Peak, where the story of Fantasy could very well end. Smoke and Cai are back to test the boundaries of not just their bond to each other, but also Smoke's with her friends and family; to her country. A once peaceful world was brought close to extinction and oblivion after a strange event that caused the demon realm to be combined with the mortal realm of the humans. The demons that invaded the world spread about havoc and destruction. The humans, who tried to fight back with their technology, had been defeated. As time passed, the demons becoming the ruling race, humans became docile and mainly went into hiding, with few towns still having human rights or safety. Technology started going backward as none had the chance to advance or evolve their technology, reducing humans to a state of a decayed modern age. The humans live in fear of the demons, seeking only a way out or a way to be safe. However, recently, a group of revolutionaries has started rising underground, forming an army of their own with the goal of destroying the Great Demon Lord.
