Sadie is stuck in a abusive relationship and feels very depressed. She isn't allowed to have friends, can't speak without being spoken to, and has to obey everything her boyfriend, Lou says. One reason why she still has trouble leaving him is because he is the only family she has left.

Jungkook is part of a gang. He's been living on his own ever since his mother died when he was 15 years old. He's never seen out and when he is, people stay away.

Sadie runs into Jungkook at the bus stop where she is seen getting harrassed. He invades himself in the situation and meets the fragile, brown skinned girl. She thanks him in the most questioning way, having him intriguid.

Jungkook ends up looking up files about her and is determined to help her escape her broken relationship. A relationship is formed between the two and others are willing to rip everything apart. Even if it means killing the one you once said you loved.
