It's been over a year since the last time Katherine Winters had last seen her friend, Benjamin. Her family then decides to spend summer in her aunt's neighborhood, which just so happens to be the same neighborhood she had lived in before they moved.
At first, she felt thrilled but now she is forced to reconsider after the many weird things she's been encountering since day 1 in her old neighborhood.

Luckily for her, the chief of the Akiire tribe takes her in. Akiire medicine men and women fuss over her until they're sure she's safe. Then the Akiire initate her as a member of their tribe.
