It's Thanksgiving Day and the Jefferies family meet for dinner. The day is riddled with dysfunction and cynicism. The family matriarch, Esther Jefferies, hosts the celebration. She rises early and is visited by the ghost of her recently deceased husband, Kenneth Shaw. Esther and Kenneth produced two children; Melanie Kendrick and Nate Shaw. Melanie's relationship is on a rocky road and her three children cause even more bumps. Nate Shaw finally found a woman to spend the rest of his life with but he's fearful of how his mother will handle the news. He plans to tell her at dinner. Earl Jefferies is Esther's only brother. He's married to Connie. It's been years of distrust and infidelity. They have five children and Earl questions if they're his. Felicia is a bible-thumping woman who drinks too much. Earl Jr. and his wife are mourning the death of their only son. Mental illness plagues Marcia Green and she suspects her husband of adultery. Thanksgiving morning she learns that Stanley wants to be a woman named Stella. Patricia Marshall is married to Harold. She's pregnant and learns that he was fired from his job because of his addiction to internet pornography. And David Michael Jefferies doesn't have a job and he lives in his parent's basement. Dottie Jefferies and Zora Thomas are twins. Dottie suffers from dementia. She floats in and out of her fog. Zora Thomas was married for years and after her divorce she experiments with her sexuality. Zora birthed two girls, Hope who's married to a Latin lover, Alfredo Velasquez. And Charity, who's battling Cancer, is married to Lance Clark. At the end of the day Kenneth's secret is revealed to Esther and it ultimately changes the Jeffries family forever.
