Nina is starting a new life in a new town, with a new job, a new house and, most importantly, new people. Too bad Mother Nature has a wicked sense of humor and leaves her stranded on a deserted road in the middle of the night, in a snowstorm, with a car that doesn't even have the decency to sputter.
Derek has lived in the same town his whole life and have seen no reason to change it. Sure, he's a bit lonely and sure, his dad is breathing down his neck about getting himself a wife. But Derek's just fine alone. In fact, he prefers it. That is, until a snowstorm hits the towns, bringing a whirlwind of emotions with it.
When Elle was just a little girl, her aunt told her about this great trip through Europe she had once gone on. And so, years later, an eighteen-year-old Elle decides to go on the same trip. But hers doesn’t go nearly as smoothly as her aunt’s. And so, completely disappointed and even more heartbroken than before, Elle decides to go back home.
But then her plane has to stop in a little town in the middle of nowhere during the biggest snowstorm of the decade. And so the adventures she had been hoping for and the love she hadn't really expected to find are thrust upon her, in the form of trying to find a place to stay in a town flooded with angry tourists, a crazy set of weird characters that offer their help, and an overly sarcastic yet amiable boy that doesn’t seem like anyone Elle has ever met before.
