My name is Simone and I have been in a serious love/hate relationship with my job for the last five years. I am a photographer in a private photo studio onboard a cruise ship, a job that has turned me into somewhat of a cynic after everything I have seen, heard and unfortunately been through. SO instead of living up to my name, Mona, I decided to write about my experiences. These last five years have given me a lot of honest poetry, two novels and a work in progress 'tell all' book titled "This book will get me into a lot of trouble". Today I would like to share some of my poetry accompanied by my photography with you hoping that it will awaken something in the person reading it.
I write about things that everyone will or have felt at some point in their lives. Things that are both heart-wrenchingly unfortunate or breathtaking beautiful with just a little hint of sarcasm. I write to show how irrefutably powerful emotions can be and how selfish and selfless people can be. Reading something that a complete stranger wrote but somehow feeling so close to that person by sharing the same gains or losses is a pretty powerful thing. Something I consider to be, at the risk of sounding cliche, very close to magic. I would like to provide someone with my magic when they read my work.
