It has been eleven years since Lily's death. Not once did Severus mourn exposed. That night was different. It was Lily's birthday. It was not just any birthday. That year, Severus never expected to see her eyes look back at him. He could not fathom what he felt during the first time in eleven years did he saw her eyes only to be owned by a boy with a lightning bolt scar on his forehead.
Seeing Harry enter his first school year in Hogwarts was a knife in Severus' broken heart. It was like Lily was dying all over again. All the memories of past overwhelmed him. So, that night of Lily's birthday, Severus drank. He drank to forget yet he drank to remember.
