Travel is the life of a minstrel and, as any good minstrel does, Teller-of-Tails goes about it in her own style! Everyone knows the new minstrel when they see a belt full of furry tails and a wild hairdo. All Teller wishes to do is reach the north shore, find the Fates, and ask her question but things keep going wrong.

As the storm rages, Teller is driven into a welcoming tavern and the relaxing entertainment of a Shadow Shaper. But she's not the only one the storm has drug in. Still searching for her daughter, Angel too finds the Hungry Butterfly Tavern... with a band of brigands on her trail! Teller must choose between the freedom she's grown so fond of or rescuing the mother she loves. She can't have it both ways...
