Jason thinks he's hit the jackpot when he finds an apartment for only $100 a month. But his world is upended when the apparition of a young woman sends him and his friends to a barren, alternate world.
All the girl wants to do is play a game. But once in this new world, Jason and his friends are immediately imprisoned by a sea captain obsessed with the girl and his band of mercenaries. Jason learns of alternate worlds, has run-ins with various mythical creatures, and discovers more of the mystery surrounding this strange, shining apparition who "haunts" his apartment, all in the hopes that by her game's end she will send him and his friends home.

His hopes are frustrated when she sends him to a completely different world by himself. Instead of a cold, barren wasteland, Michael finds himself in an air fortress inhabited by people in the midst of war with those who live on the sea. In order to escape this war, Michael must prove himself to the ghost he hates so much. Only then will she bring him home. "Michael" is the second part of Quintus Crossings' "Emergence" arc.
