What's a girl to do when she's surrounded by superheroes, but holds no powers herself? Meg lives in a world where being super is no different than being brown-eyed, but is one of the unfortunate many who possesses no powers at all. Being a "civvie", or civilian, options are always limited, but she doesn't want much, only to live her life safely and without worry, maybe even to hold a good job. Of course, destiny has a different plan for her. Suddenly thrown into a world of heroes and villains, will she be able to hold her own?

Shortlisted for the Open Novella Contest 2019 • Being a Supervillain is tough. Between managing a secret lair and making sure your mom doesn't stop loving you because you keep telling everyone she's dead, it's a really hard business to be good at? Add to that, the fact that somehow you got arrested because your cat sitter didn't take the day off and then you go around expressing your unconditional love for pancakes in a Super holding cell because technically they can't put you in a proper prison and you don't really have a choice because lawyers are expensive? And then, you realise your best friend is plotting go take over your spot as the greatest villain there ever was? Okay, maybe not the greatest, but you do come pretty close to it! To top it off, there's that one Superhero who's just so completely gorgeous, you couldn't imagine any harm coming to them? Because they're just that precious? I guess that makes me a Supervillain with minor time travel superpowers and a huge crush on a not so powerful Superhero? And all you have to do is protect yourself and everyone you love from your ex best friend/sidekick --because let's face it that's the highest level of praise for a wretched traitor here--and you also have to get out of Super Holding somehow? But with no knowledge of what the villainous plan was, who these criminals were, or how to properly use her powers, things seem grim.
