John has spent the first 20 years of his life alone in his "apartment" because, as far as he knows, nothing else exists.
And that's ok, he supposes. Until he gets the opportunity to walk right out the front door.

It's been five years since the plague struck. Leah knows there are other survivors, but she's avoiding them. She is doing just fine on her own.
