Dark waters

As the small girl walked, his eyes lay on her tiny figure; watching her every movement. Like a predator would stalk his prey.
She continued to walk with her back faced to the creature, oblivious to all. Like a lamb before the slaughter.
If only she would have stayed at home.

Annabelle was sent to go live with her uncle at the end of the summer, after a fatal accident involving her parents. Anna was over excited when she found out that he worked with the newly discovered species; mermaids. She had been begging her parents to take her to see them the whole summer. Instead, they took her to a petting zoo.

And the petting zoo would turn out to be a lot funner.
