Three hundred years after the fall, the known world is beginning to regain a semblance of order, with the sword the ultimate power once more. But not everything of old was lost, and there are some that will exert deadly effort to obtain what was left behind. Orphaned, plague-marked and mistrusted by the community he lives in, a boy must come to terms with the fact that he is different from everyone else, but is soon the focus of unwelcome and deadly attention. Separated from her father, a young girl has to learn to survive in a foreign land haunted by tribes of ghosts and roving bands of piratical thralls to a sadistic King. A watcher keeps lonely vigil from within a fortress that has been under siege for hundreds of years, while a soldier dies for the twenty-third time, and dies again while wondering if he is going mad. First started in 2015, this story is at 50k+ words, but was removed when a plotting hiccup was encountered. I now intend to split it into three parts, and this is the complete Part 1. Holy Grail. A drug made to enhance the human body in order to combat the desolate world that was destroyed by the war many years ago. Tested over and over again, many of the subjects died or were turned into unspeakable horrors due to the effects. But there were a handful that had risen past the agony that the drug instilled. Ryker is one such prisoner. The drugs were tested on him and because he survived he became a lab rat. A very pissed off lab rat. When his chance comes to seize freedom, he doesn't waste it. By fate or chance, he comes into contact with the gang Fukkatsu. They are out looking for answers to the drug that infects one of their own; Valkyrie. In search of a cure for it, they are traveling to find the source of the drugs manufacturing, one of which Ryker might be able to assist in. If he were willing. Past the anger and the blind need to get revenge; Ryker might be able to help. But he's not listening and he doesn't play well with others. Not even with the pretty blonde who's in charge of watching over him. Even so, Ryker finds himself lured in by the young man's charms.
