She flipped through about six files before she found the file she wanted and pulled it out. "His name is Dr. Spencer Reid, he's very good. I believe that he has a similar teaching method as you do coincidentally. Now, if you would like, I can set up a meeting between the two of you." Linda offered as she handed Alyson his file. She must've had a look of shock plastered on her face because once Linda sat down, she had a bit of a hidden smile on her face.
"Alyson, I know what you and a bunch of other agents think of me, that I'm the enemy. I'm not, I'm just simply trying to help better your career, especially since one of our former agents spoke so highly of you after Unit Chief Prentiss got the ninth spot on her team approved, it made sense that with your experience in different fields of the FBI, and your numerous degrees, two of them being Psychology and Criminology. Not to mention those degrees are Doctoral. Out of hundreds of our agents, you are the best fit for the BAU." Linda said sincerely. "Not to mention, moving you out of academia and into this unit, will make me look good." She said in an attempt to make a joke.
Alyson looked at her, silent for a moment, "Hundreds of agents, huh? And you picked me?" She asked softly to herself before flitting her eyes over to her superior, "So, Dr. Spencer Reid is a good professor?" Linda Barnes' face grew into a professional grin, "He is great, I assure you." Alyson pursed her lips in thought, "Then I greatly appreciate this new career opportunity, Assistant Director Barnes. I'm not a fan of change, but it's something that I will have to get used to." She was being honest, she knew that this would be the biggest accomplishment in her career, she knew that it'd be a mistake to pass it up. "Now that's more like it, Dr. Mitchell."

"I know our history Agent Hotchner, and it's been more than a decade we last saw each other. Judging from the photo on your desk, you have moved on, though you both are unhappy in your marriage, especially your wife."
"The smile on her face, it was forced, just for this photo. Her eyes were dark. She was staring into blank space. But there's a twitch in the corner of her eyes, she was either angry or trying to take control of her emotion." Prentiss said while holding the photo.
"Stop," Hotchner said.
"May I say a last word, Sir?"
"Yes, you may."
"The only person that looks happy in this photo is your son. Please do anything you can to shield him from the darkness of this world." Prentiss said, with a grim expression.
