Mae Eldrid is black blooded and has been kept hidden from the world by her mother. She is forbidden from using any of her abilities for fear that she will reveal herself. She remains hidden until she reveals herself during a normal everyday grocery run.

She meets people her mother warned her about and finds out her mother just might have been wrong about the world.
