It had to have been years and years since Adam's mother had kicked him out of the house, or at least that's what it'd felt like. An eternity of hell in the foster care system after he'd been caught on the streets at age thirteen.

It was tough, the different homes and families, half of whom were caring for kids just for the money. Adam hated it. The people, the names, the coming out with every new family. Absolute hell. 

But when he finally ended up in an orphanage at age sixteen with no hope of ever being adopted, he finally began to see a light at the end of the awful tunnel.

He bounced from home to home for some months for either "being to quiet" or "not being able to take a joke," when the joke caused him a panic attack from his two years of trauma. Other homes just didn't want to take on the trouble of caring for a traumatized kid once they found out how "hard" it was. One day, when Tubbo is put in a home with a family of four, the dad of the other three and one of the kids, who is Tubbo's age, take a strong liking to Tubbo, who they thinks his name is Alesha and is a girl.
