McKenzie Branson had the kind of parents that didn't care. Her mother ran away without warning and left her five kids living with only their drunk father. McKenzie was abused and took punishments so that he wouldn't hurt any of her brothers. She wasn't allowed out of the house so with no food given to her or her brothers she was forced to improvise. Meaning, she had to sneak into her neighbors house and find some left overs. Old miss Tomlinson wouldn't mind.
