Evelyn, the black sheep of Norwegian high society, begins to see the columns of her 
life collapse under the weight of her own desires. Feeling suffocated and betrayed by her husband's secrets, she realizes how little of her life is within her control. 

The arrival of a young, mysterious stranger has Evelyn reconsidering the choices others have made for her. He sees beyond her status and exotic-looks, only to find the fearful young lady lying beneath. Therefore, it is no surprise for Evelyn when she finally decides to abandon her previous life and travel with the previously mentioned stranger to the ends of the Earth, finding purpose in her role as a missionary for victims of European colonization.
