Seeing the world's greatest detective die in such an anti-climatic way could displease some of the cruelest gods and goddesses. So it should come as no surprise that Emma, a seemingly ordinary woman on the outside, decides to take matters into her own hands and save L from his cruel fate. But he wakes up in Los Angeles, after a very bumpy ride, and unable to return to the Kira investigation or life as he knew it. To top it off, Emma has a purpose of her own to fulfill, for which she needs the detective's help... whether he wants to offer it or not.

On the outside - a tale of two weird kids that seem to finally to get a shot at a normal life. At its core, however - a study of what makes a human humane, and what it takes to piece oneself together after being pulled apart by people, circumstance and a lot of bad luck.

(Y/n) (l/n). What a person. I don't think anyone really knows what to call that enigma. Some say they're a freak. An unfathomable eccentric. Others think they're a no-good liar, or someone shrouded in mysteries. And many think that they're simply clever, for finding such an interesting way to get through life. Well, I think they're a work of art. (Y/n) is a master of the art of manipulation, and living proof that looks are deceiving. They get high off of risk and satisfaction from fooling people. A uniquely complex genius. At first glance, they seem like a charming, innocent person with a small frame and a fresh face and an aura that can make even the coldest of people fall under their spell. But the sugar in their voice is coated in poison. They're smarter than they let on, and they're a master of exploiting people. They tell a convincing lie and can fool even the most perceptive people into thinking they're an innocent, kindhearted person. But on the inside, they're a mad thrill seeker who would do anything for a good adrenaline rush. They take advantage of the people they win over and use them for their own entertainment. They don't care about conforming to society or living a 'normal' life, because what's the fun in that? Nobody's seen the real them. There's not one person they truly care about; who knows their true character nor person behind the mask they wear. They're a mystery in and of themselves, one that nobody can solve. Or so it seems. Unfortunately for them, the iconic detective L takes a special interest in them, and recruits them to Japan to work alongside him on the Kira case. (Y/n)'s goal is to win L over and make him their most powerful pawn, and his is to solve the mystery that is them. I wonder, who would win such a battle of wills? Skye was just an ordinary human. One with an unfortunate life. Her mother was killed in an armed robbery when she was barely a year old. Her father turned to alcohol and smoking to hide his pain. As the years went he began to abuse her and was eventually murdered as well by a burgler. She was sent to Wammy's House. As the only girl there, it was hard for her but she made a few friends and was very close with another boy. She stood out easily because of her white hair and small figure but it was mostly her eyes. She wasn't born with her white hair, it turned white from the torture and stress her father put her through. Her eyes were different. She was born with large, blood red eyes. Of course no one knew that she hadn't been born with white hair, not even the boy she was basically dating, except a boy little older than her named Lawliet. He was like a brother to her. Lawliet was given a caretaker named Watari and Skye, one named Yamato. She lived her life as normal as she could and climbed the ranks as a detective; even surpassing L, though she didn't know who he actually was. As it's well knows, shinigami liked to gamble to entertain themselves. The king himself gambled his own life and power on her and a few years before she went into Wammy's. The king bet his that she wouldn't risk her life to save a stranger and used his death note to put her in a situation that she could save a child's life by risking her own or continue walking and not give them a second glance. She saved the child and gained his death note, the shinigami eyes, healing and self-healing, the power to bring back to dead, and knowing whenever someone has been killed using a death note. She had not to try draw attention to herself, since others couldn't see the shinigami she talked to. As the shinigami queen it was hard to be normal. She traveled for cases and decided to dye her hair inky purple when she was in America. She returned to Japan to go to school and observe the Kira case.

Is everything that we do our fate ? Or is it our choices ? What are bonds ? How deep do they go ? It may seem like everything that we do is our fate, but it is not. It is our choices that determine our fate. Bonds are deep connections between people. They go beyond your current life, they are renewed in every life, even stronger than it was before. Almost like soulmates, isn't it ? Well, in the case of Light Yagami and L. Lawliet, it is indeed the case. Light and L are reincarnated, with different names but the same physical looks and lifestyles. Both are in their early twenties and joined the Metropolitan Police Department some years back. Now they are promoted to detective and work under Kana Yagami, Light's twin sister, in the homicide division. A prominent businessman, Alexander Kennedy, dies, apparently a suicide. The duo visit the crime scene of their very first case and quickly realize that something was off. He had no reason to suicide. Their simple case quickly turns deadly as the death note resurfaces and the deepest, darkest secrets of the world's most powerful countries are exposed, forcing Kana to turn to an old associate, Near, for help. As Near and Kana dig up the past, memories surface, causing tension between the two detectives who are steadily falling for each other. Will they be able to push aside their past and move on ? Will they finally acknowledge their feelings for each other ? Who is the new owner of the deathnote ? What are their motives ? Will they get drunk on its power like Kira before them? Updates every Wednesday or weekend. I do not own Death Note or any characters. I only own my OC, Kana Yagami and the plot.

40 parts Complete Mature

It's not something that happens to a girl every day. Being sent back in time. Or across continents. Especially the sudden understanding of the language. And meeting Yagami Light? Well, don't get me started on that. Some people might want to change everything, save the ones they like best and all that, but meddling will change everything. I don't want to screw everything up and make it worse. But, then again... I'm here. That makes a difference. Warnings: Serious cursing, somewhat graphic violence, criminal themes and sexual themes in later chapters. While not explicit, this story isn't recommended for those easily off-put by such things. *NOTE: Since the characters are usually speaking in Japanese, any English will be in bold to make a distinction without me writing it every time. Okay, enjoy!*
