PLOT SUMMARY: Forte showdown, the most protected instrument Fighting bracket. It's practically the Olympics, but when it rolled around in 2014 things went awfully wrong. 12 instruments, all sent to this fighting bracket. Not knowing of the death that awaits them. The Perks of Being a Musician
Have you ever stuffed up a solo at a concert? Been told you've been playing your instrument wrong despite the fact you've been playing it for eight years? Had a conductor yell in your face because it was meant to be a C SHARP? Talked to your fellow musical geniuses about an instrument you play and then realised they have no idea what a flugelhorn is? I could go on forever. After all, it is a rant book. But that's not the point. Be prepared to laugh the rosin off your bow with some pretty relatable rants about how life as a musician isn't necessarily all smooth gliding. Possibly literally for string players. Especially when doing spicatto. Written by a slightly experienced musician herself, who may or may not know what she's talking about. You'll have to find out for yourself. A Memoir from the Band Room
The life of a High School band department is full of trials and tribulations that people not in the programs don't hear of or don't think about. Sit in with a few members from the band department and hear their side of things. Featuring: some the finer points of the program from a some different points of view, a couple personal experiences, a vocabulary list and a funny story or two. Please feel free to leave comments and feedback. I only marched with one school and therefore only have one school's worth of experiences so if you have had a different experience marching or spinning feel free to tell us about it!
