The seven-graders in Lakeside high School are becoming eight-graders. It was the holidays and they fantasised about their new amazing, awesome teacher, Mrs Woods. However, much to the sixth-graders' horror, Mrs Woods has just gotten pregnant. This meant that she could not teach them for the whole eighth-grade year! The devastated children go back to school, dreading their new teacher, Mr Walker. However, they will receive many surprises in their year and little do they know that what they thought was going to be their worst year, was actually going to be the best.

Read this book to find out the lives of five pupils in eightth-grade.

Chloe, a swimming champion, is forced to take part in meets and competions because of her mother while coping with her dog, Minnie.

Kyle, a football fan, is stressed out as bad things keep happening to him. He struggles with taking care of his beloved grandfather who has cancer, and handling his relationship with his best friend, Chloe

Trevor, a care-free boy, is only good at one thing: War Of Kings. Sadly, he is bad at everything else, for example, getting bad grades. Thankfully, Mr Walker is going to make him turn over a new leaf.

Natalie, an aspiring prime minister, is the goody-two shoes of the seventh-grade class and the most hardworking student at Lakeside High School. However, there is something that she does not have that makes her not perfect: Friends.

Penny, the new girl, is suffering from dyslexia. In addition, she is one of the worst pupils in her old school, Newton Girls' School. Since Lakeside is a more advanced school, she is almost failing every subject. But all this does not stop her from having a heart of gold.
