The Shift

Since the Shift occurred it’s been the night that spikes my anxiety the most. It’s after the sun sets that my paranoia is at its worst with my senses on high alert focusing in on every sound my ears can possibly pick up. It is in the night when they come out of their hiding places and are on the hunt. They search for a fresh kill and blood, searching for humans to drain dry—searching for us.

Emma is a seventeen year old nomad that was picked up by Adam and his son Jeremy when she was eight years old. They found her alone surviving off of bugs and hiding at night up in the banisters of an old farm house, where her parents were savagely killed. She was practically raised by them, and travels with them living day by day making best of the hell they live in. This hell is a world when civilization as we know it has crumbled. The government ceases to exist. The night infested with vampires that dwell in the ruins which once were lively towns and cities. And where the remaining human populations take refuge in closed off towns and sections. She lives in the leftover hell of the world that is the result of an epidemic outbreak known as The Shift.
