In a world ruled by a harsh cast system, orphaned Row must find her place among these intolerant people.  

Orphaned as an infant, it is finally time for 17-year-old Row to leave the orphanage, the only home she's ever known, and travel to Endurum.  Here she will go through the marking, solidifying her cast, and training for whatever purpose she will have in this life.  She is convinced that she will be marked as part of the peasant cast, continuing on the path she always assumed would be hers.  

As she navigates this new place, she will have to fight for her position and even her very life.  Can she rise above the way she was born to take her destiny in her hands and ride into the life that was planned for her?
