"Dahil hindi pa tayo handang magpakasal, ganito na lang, Maria. Gagawa tayo ng krimen na tayo lang dalawa ang nakakaalam. Para hinding-hindi na tayo maghiwalay." Hinigpitan pa lalo ni JL ang yakap kay Maria na nakasandal sa harapan niya. "Ano, Maria? Gawa tayo ng krimen?" 

"Ano namang krimen?" Kaswal na tanong ni Maria, iniisip na nagbibiro lang ang nobyo niya.

"Papatay tayo." 

Binitawan ni Maria ang binabasang libro at umayos ng upo paharap kay JL. Alam ng dalagang hindi nagbibiro si JL sa tono ng boses nito. 

"Sige." Nagulat si Maria na ito ang naisagot niya. Iba ang nasa isip niya. Pero sadyang ito ang lumabas sa bibig niya. Ganon naman palagi. Lahat ng sinasabi ni JL, pumapayag siya nang hindi nag-iisip.
